The Friends of Art is requesting your help in making this years Annual Art Auction the best ever. The Auction has been an important funding source for the Department of Art and Design and the areas within for over three decades. Since 1980, over $250,000 in proceeds have helped bring local, national and international artists to the SIUE campus. In addition, the Friends of Art has donated annually to the Graduate Scholarship in hopes that a full scholarship will be available in the near future. The Annual High School Exhibition, the Lovejoy Library matching book fund, the Mexica project, ArtEast and various exhibitions and conferences have also been awarded with help from this annual fundraising effort.
For 2009, a new location has been selected for the Aution, the Leclaire Room at the N. O. Nelson Campus of Lewis and Clark Community College in Edwardsville, or as some of you might remember, "Wagner." The buildings and grounds have been beautifully restored and we plan a "memory lane" reviving the memories of that wonderful place.
Each year, the Friends of Art award several prizes for outstanding artwork, including a $200 award for non-student original artwork submitted by the producing artist. This year the award is in honor of Stevie Naunheim, M.F.A. (1988) and FOA Board Member who passed away last May after a long battle with cancer. Her work will be featured in the auction as well.
